ARLINGTON, TX - Following a historic 2023-24 campaign, the Arlington Baptist University men's basketball program is set to begin their new season on October 28, 2024, at Texas Wesleyan University.
The Patriots are coming off an impressive season that saw them capture the NCCAA Southwest Region Championship while maintaining a presence in the top 10 of both the National Power Rankings and Coaches Poll. The team finished with a 13-12 record and advanced to the NCCAA national tournament.
During the 2023-24 season, the Patriots demonstrated their offensive capabilities by accumulating 1,931 total points while maintaining a 30.2 percent field goal percentage per game. The team's efficiency was evident in their 377 made shots on 566 attempts. Their defensive presence was equally impressive, securing 861 total rebounds, recording 63 blocks, and collecting 237 steals throughout the season.
The individual achievements of the 2023-24 season highlighted the program's depth of talent. Ahmad Webster earned the prestigious Most Valuable Player Award for his outstanding performance. Additionally, Webster, along with teammate Davion Allen, secured positions on the Southwest All-Region Teams, further cementing the Patriots' dominant presence in regional competition.
The 2024-25 roster features key returning players Ahmad Webster, Davion Allen, J'son Murray, and Isaiah Melvo. This veteran core will lead the Patriots through a challenging schedule that includes matchups against Oklahoma Baptist, Angelo State University, Texas State University, and Baylor University.
Regional conference play begins January 10, 2025, at the College of Biblical Studies-Houston, as the Patriots begin their title defense.
The team's balanced schedule of tough non-conference opponents and regional matchups should provide valuable experience as they aim to defend their Southwest Region crown and make another appearance in the national tournament.
