ARLINGTON, TX - The Arlington Baptist University Patriots women's basketball team delivered their most explosive offensive performance of the season, dismantling the Randall University Saints 112-75 on Saturday evening. The commanding victory improves the Patriots' record to 5-10 on the season.
The Patriots showcased remarkable shooting efficiency, converting 57.7% (45-78) from the field, 45.5% (10-22) from three-point range, and 66.7% (12-18) from the free-throw line in their highest-scoring output of the season.
Sophia Cortez orchestrated the offensive onslaught with 21 points on near-perfect shooting, going 7-8 from the field and 3-4 from three-point range. Cortez filled the stat sheet with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block, demonstrating her all-around impact on both ends of the floor.
The Patriots' depth was on full display as
Kaylee Bennett and
Enyce Williams each contributed 20 points. Bennett dominated defensively with a game-high 7 steals, while Williams showcased her efficiency by shooting 56.3% from the field and adding 5 assists and 5 steals.
Sa'Nya Green delivered a complete performance with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals, while shooting a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line. Laila Steward added 15 points on efficient 54.5% shooting, including three shots from beyond the arc.
The Patriots' defensive effort was highlighted by their aggressive ball-hawking, forcing numerous turnovers through their combined 24 steals. Green and
Aniya Jackson anchored the rebounding effort with 4 defensive boards each, while Bennett and Williams secured 2 defensive rebounds apiece.
The Patriots return to action on Monday, February 17th, 2025, hosting the Southwestern Adventist University Knights from Keene, Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM at J. Frank Norris Auditorium
