ARLINGTON, TX - The Arlington Baptist University Patriots men's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory over the College of Biblical Studies-Houston Ambassadors on Friday evening, prevailing 82-77. The win improves the Patriots' season record to 7-12.
Despite shooting 36.4% (24-66) from the field and 27.3% (6-22) from three-point range, the Patriots demonstrated exceptional efficiency from the free-throw line, converting 80% (28-35) of their attempts, which proved crucial in securing the victory.
Gary Gray led the Patriots' scoring effort with 15 points, including an outstanding performance from the free-throw line where he shot 91.7% (11-12).
Isaiah Melvo delivered a strong all-around performance with 13 points and a near double-double, pulling down 9 rebounds while distributing 3 assists. Melvo shot an efficient 50% (4-8) from the field.
Ahmad Webster and
J'son Murray each contributed 10 points to the winning effort. Webster, despite a challenging shooting night, added 5 rebounds and 4 assists while connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. Murray displayed perfect efficiency from the free-throw line, making all six of his attempts.
The Patriots' defensive effort was anchored by
Isaiah Melvo's 7 defensive rebounds, while
Ahmad Webster secured 4 boards and
J'son Murray grabbed 3. The team's defensive effort was further bolstered by contributions from
Davion Allen (2 rebounds), and John Gray,
Eric Conner,
Jamar McCray, and
Aaryn Medina, who each collected one defensive rebound.
The Arlington Baptist University Patriots will return to action at home on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, hosting the Randall University Saints from Moore, Oklahoma at the J. Frank Norris Auditorium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
