Box Score 4 JOPLIN, MO - The Arlington Baptist University Patriots made history on November 23, 2024, winning their first NCCAA DII Women's Volleyball National Championship in Joplin, Missouri. Entering the tournament as the #2 seed after an at-large selection, the Patriots displayed resilience and determination throughout an unforgettable week of competition.
Road to the Championship
- Nov. 20: ABU opened pool play with a 3-0 sweep over #7 Faith Baptist Bible College, hitting .239 and tallying 12 blocks. They then fell to #6 Pensacola Christian College in a 3-1 match despite a strong serving performance with 10 aces.
- Nov. 21: ABU edged #3 Boyce College in a dramatic 3-2 match, fueled by Teagan Hill's 22 kills and a dominant fourth set to force a decisive fifth.
- Nov. 22: ABU secured a spot in the semifinals by winning a single-set tiebreaker against Pensacola Christian. That same day, the Patriots defeated #5 Manhattan Christian College 3-2, overcoming back-to-back set losses with a 7-0 run in the fifth set.
- Nov. 23: In the championship match, ABU faced six-time defending champion Bob Jones University. After trading sets, the Patriots trailed 11-8 in the fifth set before mounting a stunning comeback to win 15-11.
