Coach Roach

Skye Roach

Skye Roach is entering her third full season as Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball team at Arlington Baptist University. In her tenure as Head Coach, she has led the Lady Patriots to a runner-up finish in the 2023 NCCAA DII National Championship, won the 2025 Southwest Regional Championship, and coached six All-Region players and one NCCAA All-American.

Coach Roach was tasked with a “rebuild” in the 2024-25 season as the team would be made up of only three returners, two junior college transfers, and eleven freshmen. After a rough 0-5 start in the first semester, the Lady Patriots began to show sparks of greatness throughout Southwest Region play. The Lady Patriots would enter the Southwest Regional Tournament as the 4th seed and go on to upset both the 1st and 2nd seed to win the program’s 10th Southwest Regional Championship. This punched their ticket to the 2025 NCCAA DII National Championship Tournament, the program’s 12th National Tournament appearance. This was a unique and special achievement for Coach Roach, as she has now won a Southwest Regional Championship and made a National Tournament appearance as a player, an assistant coach, and a head coach.

In December of 2022, after serving as the Assistant Coach for three and a half seasons, Coach Roach was named the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. After leading the Lady Patriots to a runner-up finish at the 2023 NCCAA DII National Championship in one semester at the helm of the program, she was officially named the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

Upon the conclusion of her collegiate playing career, Coach Roach began her coaching career as an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Arlington Baptist University in August of 2019. She coached alongside her former coach and the University’s current President, Cliff McDaniel, from 2019-2021. In her time as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, the Lady Patriots captured their 8th and 9th consecutive Southwest Regional Championships in 2020 and 2021, their 6th and 7th consecutive ACCA National Championships in 2020 and 2021 and finished as runner-up in the 2021 and 2022 NCCAA DII National Championship. Coach Roach also served as the head middle school girls basketball coach at Pantego Christian Academy from 2019-2021.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at her alma mater, Roach played collegiate basketball at Clarendon College and Arlington Baptist University. She was a member of the 2018 and 2019 Lady Patriot Women’s Basketball teams that secured the program’s 6th and 7th consecutive Southwest Regional Championships, 4th and 5th consecutive ACCA National Championships, and 4th and 5th consecutive NCCAA DII National Championships. Skye graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Clarendon College in 2017, and then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Arlington Baptist University in 2020.
