Arlington Baptist University Names Jason Venable Head Women’s Soccer Coach

Arlington, TX — Arlington Baptist University (ABU) is proud to announce the hiring of Jason Venable as the new Head Women's Soccer Coach. Venable brings a distinguished legacy of leadership, player development, and competitive success to the soccer community, with more than three decades of coaching experience across Texas high school athletics. Known for his passion for the game and his commitment to building young men and women both on and off the field, Venable has earned statewide respect as a transformational coach and program builder.

Venable's career is most notably defined by his remarkable tenure at Waxahachie High School, where he spent 23 years shaping one of the premier soccer programs in Texas. During that time, he served 22 seasons as Head Girls Soccer Coach and 12 seasons as Head Boys Soccer Coach, compiling an outstanding career record of 548-268-99. His teams qualified for the playoffs 23 times, captured six district championships, and competed in 62 postseason matches, including multiple regional semifinal appearances.

Under his leadership, Waxahachie consistently developed high-level talent, producing 33 All-Region players, 12 All-State selections, and more than 50 student-athletes who advanced to play collegiate soccer. His programs were known not only for their competitive excellence but also for their discipline, unity, and strong culture—often advancing both boys' and girls' teams to the playoffs in the same season.

A respected leader beyond his own program, Venable was inducted into the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Hall of Honor in 2018 and has served in leadership roles within statewide coaching organizations, including as a regional director and clinic speaker. He also founded the Waxahachie Junior High Soccer Program and played a key role in developing soccer programs across North Texas.

Throughout his career, Venable has remained deeply committed to mentorship. He invests in the lives of his players, emphasizing character, accountability, and personal growth. His influence extends far beyond the pitch, with former players going on to succeed in collegiate athletics, careers, and leadership roles in their communities.

Venable's coaching philosophy centers on preparation, perseverance, and purpose—principles that have defined his career and continue to shape every program he leads.
