Hall of Honor Inductee - Dr. Clifton McDaniel

ARLINGTON, TX - Dr. Clifton McDaniel has been a driving force behind the growth and success of Arlington Baptist University, both as a coach and administrator. A proud graduate of ABU, McDaniel earned his bachelor's degree in 2000 and later received a master's degree with an emphasis in Educational Leadership in 2013. His commitment to education and leadership was further recognized in April 2021 when he was awarded an honorary doctorate.

McDaniel's impact on ABU athletics began when he resurrected an athletic program that had been dormant for a decade. Over 13 years, he built the program into a competitive force, leading the women's basketball team to five NCCAA DII National Championships and nine NCCAA DII Regional Championships. His coaching excellence was recognized with five NCCAA Southwest Region Coach of the Year awards and three NCCAA DII Coach of the Year honors. With an outstanding 218-55 record in women's basketball and a 325-160 overall NCCAA record across multiple sports, his influence on ABU athletics is undeniable.

Beyond the basketball court, McDaniel played a crucial role in expanding ABU's athletic offerings, adding men's and women's soccer, cross country, golf, baseball, and softball. His leadership extended beyond coaching when he took on the role of interim President in 2019, becoming ABU's official President in 2021. Known for his integrity and commitment to excellence, he held his athletes to high academic and personal standards, earning deep respect from faculty and former players alike.

Dr. McDaniel continues to shape Arlington Baptist University, guiding its growth with dedication and a steadfast commitment to its mission.
