Victor Burgos joins head coach Davis Beaver’s staff as hitting coach and outfield coach for the Patriots, bringing an extensive and impressive background from the professional and college ranks. Most notably, Burgos served as the hitting coach for the St. Lucie Mets (single A affiliate of the New York Mets) from 2021-2023. Under Burgos’s watch, the Mets led the Florida State League in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, and OPS. The Mets were also top 5 in batting average, hits, and doubles. Twelve of the fourteen players that started with Burgos were promoted to higher levels within the Mets organization. The St Lucie Mets won the Florida State League championship in 2022.
Last summer, Burgos also served as the hitting coach and 3rd base coach for the La Crosse Loggers of the Northwoods League, one of the premier college baseball summer leagues in the country. The Loggers finished 40-28 while finishing in the top 5 in the league in batting average, runs, walks, on-base percentage, and OPS.
Burgos was also previously the hitting coach for the Gary Railcats of the American Association, an official partner league of Major League Baseball. Burgos is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan where he played baseball before a stint in the minor leagues. He resides in Grand Prairie with his wife and two children.
