ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Baptist University softball program has reached another milestone, clinching the NCCAA Central Region Regular Season Championship and securing the #1 seed in the upcoming NCCAA Central Regional Tournament. The Patriots finished the regular season with a program-record 20-8 overall record, capping one of the most successful regular seasons in the program's five-year history.
The title marks the program's third regular season championship overall, but its first in the Central Region after transitioning this year into a highly competitive 12-team region that includes nine NAIA member schools. The Patriots rose to the top of that challenging field, demonstrating the program's growth and national standing.
Earning the #1 seed in the Central Regional Tournament is nothing new for ABU, but it carries significant weight. The Patriots have now entered as the top seed in an NCCAA Regional Tournament three times. On each of the previous two occasions, ABU responded by advancing all the way to the College World Series. With another #1 seed in hand, the program has its sights set squarely on making it three.
The 20-8 record stands as the best regular season record in program history, a testament to the culture and standard that has been built at ABU since the program's founding. In just five years of existence, the Patriots will seek to make three trips to the College World Series, a remarkable achievement by any measure.
The program's rapid ascent is rooted in a culture that sets ABU apart from virtually every other college softball program in the country. Built on the blended championship philosophies across other sports, the Patriots have created an environment that builds athletes up on and off the field.
The NCCAA Central Regional Tournament is scheduled to begin Friday at The Clark. ABU will enter as the #1 seed and will look to continue its remarkable postseason tradition as it pursues a third College World Series appearance.
