Women’s Basketball Wins 4 in a Row

The Arlington Baptist University women’s basketball team won its fourth game in a row last night against Bacone College.

The Lady Patriots were in command of the game for the entire 40 minutes. They ended the half with a comfortable 23-point lead and extended that lead to as much as 30 points in the second half. Bacone fought back in the 4th quarter and actually outscored the Lady Patriots by 11 points. However, the strong lead that ABU took in the first three quarters proved to be too much for the Warriors of Bacone. The Lady Patriots won by a final score of 90-76.

With leading scorer, Jakayla Bradford, out for the game due to injury, the Lady Patriots turned to freshman, Alyssa Prier. Prier led the team in scoring with 20 points, going 10-10 from the field. Sophomore point guard, Da’Myia Derby, added a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists. Three other Lady Patriots also scored in double figures: Lexi Campbell (12 points), Karina Rivera (11 points), and Heaven Scott (10 points). Scott also grabbed a game high, 10 boards.

The Lady Patriots are now on a 4-game win streak and improve to 7-4 overall. They will travel to Hot Springs, Arkansas on Friday to take on the #1-ranked team in the country, Champion Christian College, in their second Southwest Region game of the season. GO LADY PATRIOTS!
