Patriots XC Compete Well & Wrap up Regular Season

WINFIELD, KS – The Patriot Cross Country team raced this past weekend at the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College, Saturday Oct. 20th. With 31 different schools entered and well over two hundred runners, the Patriots got their first preview of what to expect at the NCCAA’s National meet in Ohio in just three weeks. Finishing 16th overall,behind many top ranked NAIA schools, such as Oklahoma Wesleyan and Lubbock Christian, all seven Patriot runners tallied personal bests for an 8k race.

The Patriots were led by freshman Alex Maciel, who posted a new school record for the 8k in a time of 26:49. German Lopez (Fr.) followed up in 2nd for the team (27:25), with Daniel Ortega (So.) crossing third for the Patriots (27:50), and Daniel Arevalo (So.) and Robert Cruz (Fr.) finishing off for the team as 4th and 5th respectively.

The Patriots now seek to stay focused and prepare for the NCCAA DII National Championships, hosted in Cedarville, Ohio on November 10th.
