The Arlington Baptist Patriots, winners of the SW NCCAA DII Regional Championship and the ACCA National Championship, have just advanced to their second straight NCCAA National Championship game with a win against #3 ranked Lancaster Bible College, 70-65 in a dog fight in the final 8 minutes of play.

The Patriots, despite missing their starting center Hugo Rodriguez and starting shooting guard/second leading scorer Raphael Garcia, came to play in the NCCAA semi-final game against a highly competitive team from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Jumping off quick in the first half, forward Patrick Howard had 10 points and 6 boards alone in just his second start of the season while Junior guard Josh Green connected on 5 out of 8 shots to give the Patriots an 8 point lead over the Lancaster Chargers 38-30.

The Second 20 minutes of play however would not be as easy for the Arlington Baptist Patriots. With a commanding 15 point lead with 8 minutes remaining the Chargers went on an 18-4 run going into the final 75 seconds of the ball game.

In the closing seconds of the game, Point Guard Simeon Brinkley connected perfectly with Guard Johnny Shrake as he beat his man with a backdoor cut, making the basket and collecting the foul to snap the Patriots dry-spell and bring them up by a full possession.

With a defensive stop on the other end of the court, the Patriots found themselves on the line again, and though unable to connect, Sophomore Johnny Shrake would come up again with a clutch rebound, he had 5 in the second half alone and 7 on the night, helping Guard Josh Green to get to the line and finish the game off .

Junior Guard Josh Green led the Patriots in scoring for the night with 17 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds – shooting 100% from the free-throw line 7-7.

The Arlington Baptist Patriots advance to the NCCAA Championship Game for the second year in a row as they will face the same opponent as a year ago, #1 seeded Ohio Christian University.
