Patriot Men’s Basketball Secures First Road Win of the Season

The Arlington Baptist University Men’s Basketball Team secured its first road win against NCAA DIII opponent, University of Dallas.

The Patriots came out in full control of the game, outscoring the Crusaders 22-9 in the first nine minutes of play. They went into half time up by a score of 51-30. Trey Ballard started off with the hot hand, scoring 17 points in the first 20 minutes of game time. UD then surged back in the second half, steadily cutting the Patriots’ lead down. Within the last minute of the game, UD was able to hit a three-pointer to cut the ABU lead to 3 points. Dallas made their last efforts to send the game into overtime by throwing up a couple more three-point attempts, but the Patriots were able to pull out the win. 

ABU had four players score in double figures. Trey Ballard led all scorers with 28 points and led the Patriots in rebounds with 9. Da’vione Stafford was the second leading scorer of the game with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Braxton Bosher and Dennis Robinson also poured in 14 and 13 points respectively. 

The Patriots will now look to get their first Southwest Region win against Manhattan Christian College at home on Friday.
