Patriot Men and Women Sweep Regional Championships

Joplin, Mo – The Patriot Men and Lady Patriots captured the NCCAA Southwest Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Patriots held of the Lady Saints of Hillsdale in dramatic fashion, pulling out a 78-75 thriller. The Lady Patriots received three post-tournament selections. #12 Ciara Costello and #2 Molly Young received first team all-region honors, while #22 Hannah McGaughy received second team all-region. The afternoon was capped off by another Patriot victory over Hillsdale. This time it was the men’s turn, and the Patriots got up early and never looked back on their way to an 86-59 win over the Saints. Three post-tournament selections were also earned by the Patriot men. #23 Rod Reed and #32 Jeremiah Ford accepted first team all-region honors, while #33 Raphael Garcia accepted second team all-region. Both teams will return to Joplin, Mo., Feb.26-Mar.2, in search for a couple ACCA National Championships, before heading on to their respective NCCAA Division II National Tournaments. The Lady Patriots will travel to the campus of Ohio Christian University, in Circleville, Ohio, for their National Tournament Mar. 7-9. They enter the tournament as the #7 seed and will play #2 seeded Manhattan Christian College on Thursday Mar.7, at 4:00pm. The Patriot men will stay in Missouri for their National Tournament held on the campus of Central Bible College in Springfield. The #7 seed Patriots will take on #10 seed Grace University in their first round matchup.
