Arlington, TEXAS- Arlington Baptist University fall sport’s teams were extremely successful, but individually our athletes were awarded for their hard work. Cross country and volleyball ended their seasons on high notes with NCCAA national competition appearances. The volleyball team won the ACCA National Tournament for the second straight year. Through their team successes, individual awards were also given to the following athletes:
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY:
Freshman, Josue Ramirez– The Wheeler Cross Country Award Finalist
This award for men, is sponsored by John and Jody Wheeler who have been involved in athletic activities of Christian high schools and colleges for many years. The Wheelers continue to actively participate in the area of athletics and wish to promote athletics in Christian colleges. They have chosen to do this by a special individual award for excellence. This award was established in order to enhance excellence in Christian cross country competition and to perpetuate the Christian philosophy and faith as exemplified through Christ-like cross country participation in NCCAA member institutions.
Freshman, Garrett Greene– Scholar Athlete
To be recognized for this award the athlete must be of junior, senior or graduate student academic standing making normal progress toward a degree. They must have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale at the nominating institution.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY:
Freshman, Abigail Wasik– School Record
Abigail was the first women’s runner to cross the finish line for Arlington Baptist University. At the Ozark Christian College Last Chance Meet she finished with a time of 24:15 which is a school record.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in cooperation with the NCCAA, awarded an All-America Team for both NCCAA Divisions I and II.
