Arlington, TX- The Arlington Baptist College XC program will be entering its second season of competition with a slew of young runners! The Patriots return three from its inaugural season in which they placed 3rd at the NCCAA Division II National Championships held in Cedarville, OH. They will be led by sophomore captain, Daniel Arevalo, (Joshua, TX) who finished in 7th place in the 2011 NCCAA National Championships. Daniel Ortega (Angleton, TX), looks to rebound from a late season altering injury and better his impressive 8th place overall finish at the University of Dallas Invitational. Zachary Thompson (Whitehouse, TX) who also plays center field for the 2012 NCCAA World Series bound Patriot Baseball team was a mid-season addition last year. He placed 15th overall in the NCCAA Division II National Championships.
The Patriot XC team will feature seven “rookie” runners this season. Robert Cruz (Tidehaven, TX) finished 50th overall at the 2011 2A Region IV XC Championships. Daniel Garcia (McGregor, TX) placed 7th overall at the 2011 2A Region II XC Championships and 28th overall at the 2011 2A State XC Championships. . Alejandro Gutierrez (Mansfield, TX) finished 100th overall at the 2011 5A Region I XC Championships. German Lopez (Kaufman, TX) the 2011 3A Region II XC Champion, 7th place finisher at the 2011 3A State XC Championships, and captain of the 2011 3A State XC Championship team. Dylon Lowe (Kaufman, TX) 3rd place finisher at the 2011 3A Region II XC Championships and member of the 2011 3A State XC Championship team. Victor Puente (Kaufman, TX) enrolled at Arlington Baptist College spring 2012, placed 15th overall at the 2010 3A State XC Championships. Elijah Vargas (Mansfield, TX) finished 144th overall at the 2011 5A Region I XC Championships. Season begins on Saturday, Sept. 1st at the University of Dallas Invitational in Irving, TX.
