The Arlington Baptist University women’s basketball team took on Southwest Region Opponent, Randall University, at home this past Friday.
Despite getting off to a slow start, trading buckets with the Saints of Randall University in the first few minutes of play, the Lady Patriots maintained a lead the entire 40 minutes of play. They ended the first quarter up by only 9 points, then took a 28-point lead in the second quarter and never looked back. The final score of the game was ABU 93 – RU 42.
Jakayla Bradford and Heaven Scott both led the Lady Patriots in scoring with 17 points each. Scott also tied Alyssa Prier for a game-high of 7 rebounds, and she and Aspyn Huseman both led in steals with 4 a piece. Huseman also enjoyed a double-digit scoring night, putting up 16 points off of an 85% field goal percentage and knocking down 2 out of 3 shots from behind the arc. Da’Myia Derby, Alyssa Prier, and Heaven Scott all led in the assist category with 3 each.
The Lady Patriots have three games coming up this week, including a rescheduled game against Southwestern Adventist University tomorrow (Tues. 02/07) at 5:00 pm. They will then play their last two home games of the season against North American University on Friday and Ecclesia College on Saturday. GO LADY PATRIOTS!
