Lady Patriots Win ACCA National Championship

Joplin, MO – The Lady Patriots finished their season at the top, finishing first in the ACCA Tournament over the weekend. The road to the championship was a tough one with the Lady Patriots going 2-1 in pool play, losing only to Hillsdale Freewill Baptist. In the championship bracket, the Lady Patriots defeated their first opponent, Calvary Christian 3 games to 1. The Championship game would be a rematch against Southwest Region rival, Hillsdale who had beat the Lady Patriots earlier in the weekend. Games 1 and 2 went to the Patriots 25-15 and 25-19. In game 3 the Lady Patriots had to climb back from down as much as 8 points to take the match to extra points. The game was ultimately decide at 29-27 in favor of the Patriots, giving the match to ABC in straight sets. This year’s Lady Patriot volleyball team is the first program to bring home a National Championship to the hill here at ABC. They were lead this year by the NCCAA Southwest Region coach of the year, Kristi McDaniel, and finished their season with a record of 17 wins, to 13 losses.
