Lady Patriots Get First Region Win

The Arlington Baptist University women’s basketball team took on Southwest Region opponent, Dallas Christian College, on Tuesday night.

The Lady Patriots came out aggressive on both ends of the floor and got out to a 12-3 run to start the game. The Crusaders fought back after some sloppy play from the Lady Patriots and cut their deficit down to 3 points by the end of the 1st quarter. However, that would be as close as it got for DCC. ABU cleaned things up in the second half and extended their lead to as much as 30 points. The Lady Patriots lead the entire game and won by a final score of 104-79.

Haley Herrin led all scorers with 28 points, going 7-12 from behind the arc. Heaven Scott posted a double-double with 17 points and a game-high, 12 rebounds. Scott also led in 2 other categories: assists with 6 and steals with 4. Jakayla Bradford also had a great comeback night after missing the last few games due to injury, posting 19 points and 3 steals. Alyssa Prier also scored in double figures with 10 points and was second on the team in rebounds with 8.

The Lady Patriots are now 8-5 overall and will be back on their home court tomorrow to take on Champion Christian College at 5pm. GO LADY PATRIOTS!
