Arlington, TX- Arlington Baptist University welcomes Jesus Vazquez to lead the men’s and women’s soccer programs. He played collegiality at Howard Payne University as a midfielder and forward. He was then asked to come on staff at Howard Payne University. After completing three years of coaching at HPU as an assistant and four years as the head coach at Paul Quinn College, Vazquez will join ABU. He says, “I am confident that my previous experience in starting a program from the ground up and leading a collegiate team to national recognition will allow me to bring this group of young men and women to the next level. I am eager to begin this new chapter in my career and look forward to being an asset to the ABU soccer program.”
Coach Vazquez was born and raised in Ennis, TX. From a very young age, he developed a deep love for the sport of soccer. Throughout his life, he has always been connected to this sport whether that has been on the field as an athlete, assisting and volunteering, or coaching various teams from clubs to the collegiate level. His passion for the sport surpassed the field when he began coaching and advising student athletes on their desired career paths.
Jesus Vazquez stats, “Learning the game plans became the first step of achieving success as a team. However, helping my student athletes plan their academic future became a primary goal to ensure greatness in the next stage of their lives. For this reason, I am honored to accept this opportunity and plan to utilize the skills I have learned to instill best practices for my student athletes on and off the field.”
With the success of the ABU Athletic Department Athletic Director Cliff McDaniel has high expectations for his staff. He says, “It is my pleasure to welcome Coach Vazquez to the Patriot family. He has accomplished great things in the soccer community and is strong in his faith. He will be a wonderful addition to our program and the student athletes. Coach Vazquez is a winner and we will win on and off the field with his leadership!”
