Monday December 16, 2013 the Arlington Baptist Patriots put on a show in the first half of their game against Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Led by Junior transfer Raphael Garcia, who had 26 points on the night and went 8-13 from deep, the Patriots jumped off to a 22-7 lead against the highly ranked SAGU lions. Credit goes to SAGU’s team and Coach as they made some adjustments on defense and went on a 21-5 run to gain the lead late in the first half 30-29.

The Patriots efforts were valiant. In the second half they went down 11 but battled back to put them within 5. In the final crucial possessions of the game the Patriots made three key stops on defense but unfortunately could not excecute on the other end, losing a very hard fough battle 70-75. The Lions were led by Jonathan Walter who went 12-19, having a career best 30 points.

This was the Patriots’ final game of the year. They will rest up now and resume action January 6th against Lubbock Christian who is 5-2 on the season so far.
