ARLINGTON, Texas- The Lady Patriots (10-5) faced off against the Rhema Lady Eagles (9-5) at home on February 1st. They played earlier in the year and ABU came away with a 96-70 win. The outcome was the same, but it was much closer at an 88-81 win for Arlington.
The Patriots held an 18 point lead for most of the game until the last three minutes when the Eagles surged. Arlington Baptist had four girls in double-digits, Kayla Beattie, Daija Stanford, and Carmen Williams with 12, 12, and 21 respectively; however, Zayda Gonzalez led all scorers with 27.
After the game, the Arlington Baptist family honored the lone senior, Kayla Beattie. She is a 5’8 post from Midland, Texas. She was escorted by her parents, Ken and Kelly Beattie. She will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Studies.
Kayla transferred from Texas Women’s University and played her final two years at Arlington Baptist. In 41 games, Kayla made 46% of the shots she took; gathered 323 total rebounds; 96 assists, 71 blocks, 79 steals, and a total 451 points at 11 points per game.
Kayla holds four school records here at ABU. #5 had 18 defensive rebounds and twice she gathered 21 total rebounds in a single game. She shares the record with 8 blocks in one game and tied the steals record in a single game with 13.
Kayla Beattie has gathered numerous awards during her tenure. She was an NCCAA Scholar Athlete, ACCA Scholar Athlete, NCCAA 2nd Team All Region, and the 2017 ACCA National Tournament MVP.
The two year captain has led her team to 32 wins, the 2017 NCCAA Southwest Regional Championship, 2017 ACCA National Championship, 2017 NCCAA National Championship, and hopeful repeats.

The Lady Patriots have three consecutive NCCAA Southwest Regional opponents. A home game against Central Christian College of the Bible on February 2nd. On February 6th they travel to Dallas, Texas to face off against cross town rival Dallas Christian College. Then, the #1 ranked Patriots welcome #2 Randall University to the J. Frank Gymnatorium for the always anticipated match-up on February 9th.
