Joplin, MO- Arlington Baptist University won the ACCA National Championship for the fifth time in as many years. The Lady Patriots faced three opponents and won each game by an average of 45 points. The #1 seed played three consecutive games in three consecutive days.
They started the tournament off against Kansas Christian College and won 93-62. Aaliyiah Clark recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 assists. Freshman Jaila Cook also had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. The Patriots had three other members in double figures. Meagan Woodward had 13 points and then Zayda Gonzalez and Daija Stanford both had 10.
On Friday, the Patriots played Association of Free Lutheran Bible School from Minnesota. Again, they won with ease 94-42. Three different players add 15 points to the books: Peniah Waites, Zayda Gonzalez, and Ashleigh Sulak. The freshman Sulk also added 13 rebounds for a double-double. The Patriot’s collected 54 rebounds and outscored AFLBS 64-24 in the paint.
Championship day was good to ABU. They beat Rhema Bible College for the third time this year. They were one point shy of 100 winning 99-48. Five players recorded double-digit points, but they were led by the Tournament MVP, Rhianna Jones, with 16 points. The stifling defense forced 32 turnovers which led to 32 points on the other end. The Patriots bench outscored the Lady Eagles 70-18.
