NATCHITOCHES, LA- The Patriot Cross Country team competed in the Northwestern State Invitational this past Monday, Oct. 1st. The small field consisted of six teams and Arlington Baptist College being the only non-Louisiana school kept the scoring reasonably close. The top four teams, in their respective order, were University of Louisiana-Monroe, Northwestern State University, Arlington Baptist, and Grambling State University.
The Patriots as a team ran very well being the first school to have all 5 runners finish the 5-mile race. They were led by Alex Maciel (Fr.) who in his first collegian race finished in 6th place overall with an impressive time of 27:50. He was followed closely by freshman German Lopez who crossed the line with the time of 28:36 which was good enough for 10th place. Daniel Ortega (So.), Daniel Arevalo (So.), and Robert Cruz (Fr.) finished in 14th, 15th and 17th place respectively to round out the Patriots’ top 5.
Next meet will be on Tuesday, Oct. 9th at the Angelo State Cross Country Classic held in San Angelo, TX.
