This past weekend the Arlington Baptist College Men’s Basketball team faced off against Conference foe Barclay College, and NCAA DII opponent Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
On Saturday the ABC men tipped off against an energized Barclay Bears team and jumped off to an early lead which they never relinquished. Junior Shooting Guard, Raphael Garcia went 6-8 from deep in the first half alone and totaled up 26 points on the night. From underneath, Senior Jeremiah Ford also went to work, racking up 24 total points, shooting over 71% on the night. Nearly all ten players contributed to the victory over the bears as they cruised to a 107-76 victory.
On Sunday, January 12th in the panhandle of Oklahoma, the Arlington Baptist Patriots claimed their very first victory against a NCAA division II program in their history – 84-79.
The Patriots were led in scoring by Junior guard Joshua Green, who went a stunning 14 for 14 from the free throw line and 2-5 from the field. Free throws were the difference of a hard fought battle on both sides of the court, with the Patriot’s out shooting their opponents 87%-61%. The Patriots were also led by Senior Postman Jeremiah Ford and Junior, Patrick Howard who each racked up 12 points.
Each player to touch the floor on the night contributed at least six points, with the bench adding 30% of the total 84 points.
The Patriots move to 6-8 on their season and will resume action this Thursday on the road versus Southwest Adventist University in Keene, Texas.
